Guard Jason Terry with mavericks jersey plans to have surgery Friday after suffering an elbow to the face during a game.

Terry’s left eye was nearly swollen shut when he left the Dallas locker room after Wednesday night’s 112-109 victory over Minnesota. Terry was hurt with 4 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter. He was called for a foul even though he was sprawled on his back with a bloody nose after took a blow to the face from Corey Brewer, who was dribbling toward midcourt when they collided.

After remaining on the floor for several minutes, Terry went to the locker room briefly. He was back in the game before the end of the third quarter and played the rest of the game with a wad of tissue stick out of his left nostril.

Bulls’ Noah troubled with foot problem

Because of plantar fasciitis in left foot, center Joakim Noah with bulls jersey will be sidelined for three weeks.

LeBron James will wear a different number on the back of his cavaliers jersey next season. The team can only hope the logo on the front of his jersey remains the same.

James has filed paperwork with the NBA to change his uniform number next season to No. 6 from No. 23, the league confirmed Tuesday. James said earlier this season he would be willing to give up No. 23 in an effort to have the NBA retire it in honor of Michael Jordan. “All it does is back up LeBron’s beliefs,” Cavs coach Mike Brown said. “He’s a loyalty guy. When he believes in something, he sticks to his guns and he believes wholeheartedly in what he’s doing.”

He is not the first superstar to change numbers mid-career.

Forward Darnell Jackson with cavaliers jersey have been recalled by the team from the NBA Development League.

Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry announced the move on Friday. Pending his arrival in Toronto, Jackson would be available to play against the Raptors on Friday night. His injury followed the trade of backup center Zydrunas Ilgauskas(notes) to Washington before the trade deadline.

Bobcats to have new owner soon

Newspaper sources say Bobcats managing partner Michael Jordan or ex-Houston Rockets president George Postolos are close to completing a deal with majority owner Bob Johnson. Postolos, who has pursued owning the Bobcats since at least last spring, made a purchase offer in early February, and Jordan had until the end of this month to match the offer. Jordan was still recruiting partners this week to invest $260 million or more to complete the purchase of Charlotte’s NBA franchise, according to the Observer.

NBA Commissioner David Stern told the Observer on Feb. 13 that he anticipated a Bobcats sale to be completed within 60 days.

Dunta Robinson turns to be a free agent
